Type 2 diabetes has been very common disease nowadays. It has accounted for almost 90-95% of diagnosed diabetes cases. It has become a new emerging epidermic due to the rapid increase of disease cases all over the world, especially in advanced countries.
Type 2 diabetes is different from type 1 diabetes where the type 2 diabetic pancreas still able to produce insulin. But the insulin amount may be is too little or not properly used. Type 2 diabetes are more associated with obesity, older age, family history of diabetes, prior history of gestational diabetes, impaired glucose tolerance, physical inactivity and ethnicity.
The obesity is one of the major causes of type 2 diabetes that the extra weight of a person make it hard for his body to process the insulin properly. If the overweight person has family history of diabetes, the risk factors of getting type 2 diabetes is even higher.
Even though with all these risk, it is easier for people to prevent type 2 diabetes compared to other diabetes types. As long as people always control their weight within healthy range, choosing healthy diet, regular exercises, the blood sugar level will remain in healthy range.
In the past, type 2 diabetes normally occurs more often for patients over the age of 40. But, this situation has changed in recent years. Type 2 diabetes has been diagnosed in all ages, including young children. This is believed to be the unhealthy food consumed by our children is one of the major causes. More and more children are having obesity problems.
There are some common symptoms for type 2 diabetes, such as Urinary Tract Infections(UTI), skin infections, moodiness, irritability, increased need to urinate, desire to drink more, easily fatigue, sores that slow to heal, high blood pressure, rapid breathing, etc. If these warning symptoms happen, it is advised to visit doctors for diagnosis. For people above 35 years old, it is advised to conduct at least once a year on blood sugar level test.
There are many different treatments for type 2 diabetics which is in contrast to type 1 diabetics whose only option is to go on insulin injections or insulin pump. There are many natural treatments for type 2 diabetes also with diet and exercises instead of medication. However, the best way to treat type 2 diabetes is the prevention from our daily life style.
